May – The Calm Before the Summer
Average temperature: 21-25°C
Sea temperature: around 18°C
May marks the start of the season and music festivals on Pag island. Most beach clubs, bars, and restaurants begin to open after winter and locals prepare for the busy months ahead. You’ll enjoy quiet streets, empty beaches and lower accommodation prices.
The weather is mild and sunny — perfect for cycling, hiking, and sightseeing — though the sea can still be a bit chilly for long swims. Working hours are shorter and nightlife is still warming up, but some early events like several Spring Breaks already bring big crowds to Zrće Beach. But after the festival days are over – so are the massive crowds.
- Pros of visiting in May: Mostly a warm, sunny period for peole who prefer calmer, affordable holidays before the rush
- Cons of visiting in May: Since the destination is still in preparation for the season, there is a high possibility of some construction work still being in process and not all facilities yet working
June – The Official Kick-Off
Average temperature: 22-26°C
Sea temperature: around 22°C
By mid-June, the island comes alive. All clubs, beach bars and restaurants are open and the first bigger wave of domestic and international tourists arrives. The weather is ideal — hot but not unbearable and the sea is warm enough for daily swims.
June hosts several major festivals on Zrće Beach such as Hideout Festival making it a perfect mix of party and relaxation. You’ll still find plenty of room for a chill and relaxing experiences on the beaches of Ručica, Planjka or Babe and enjoy slightly lower prices compared to July and August.
- Pros of visiting in June: Music lovers and travelers looking for a lively yet not overcrowded atmosphere
- Cons of visiting in June: Similar to cons in May but not as much – we think June is one of the most ideal months to visit
July – High Season Energy
Average temperature: 24-32°C
Sea temperature: around 24°C
July is the heart of the summer — the island beats to the rhythm of music, beach parties and endless sunshine. If it happens to rain, it regularly comes and goes quickly. Expect packed clubs, crowded beaches and extended working hours everywhere. Shops, restaurants, and bars often stay open until late or even until the very morning, especially in Novalja and Zrće Beach.
Every night feels like a festival with international DJs at Papaya, Aquarius, Nomad and Euphoria. The island’s beaches are buzzing and the sea is warm and very clean.

- Pros of visiting in July: Big crowds, endless sunshine, for partygoers and those who love vibrant, energetic holidays with many activities to choose from
- Cons of visiting in July: Just be prepared for higher prices and less parking availability around town
August – The Peak of Heat and Crowds
Average temperature: 24-33°C
Sea temperature: around 24°C
August is usually the busiest month on Pag island. Everything runs at full capacity — clubs, restaurants and beach activities. From early afternoon till dawn, Zrće Beach doesn’t sleep!
Expect higher accommodation prices and traffic around Novalja, but also unforgettable sunsets, top-tier events and the best possible sea temperature for swimming. Book everything you can in advance — from accommodation and festival tickets to dinner reservations.

- Pros of visiting in August: Those who want the ultimate Pag experience — wild nights, warm seas, and total summer energy
- Cons of visiting in August: Higher accommodation prices and heavier traffic around Novalja
September – Slower Days, Softer Light
Average temperature: 22-28°C
Sea temperature: around 23°C
By early September, the crowds start to thin and the island slows down. The weather remains warm and pleasant, perfect for swimming, boat trips and exploring the island’s lunar landscape without the heat exhaustion of July and August.
Many clubs start hosting closing parties after the first week of September - or even earlier. Prices of accommodation drop. Restaurants and beach bars are still open, but with reduced hours after mid-September. Zrće beach clubs work differently every year, deciding as they go according to the weather which can become pretty rainy.
- Pros of visiting in September: Similar to what we described in May – great for couples, solo travelers and anyone seeking a relaxed atmosphere with summer warmth with less focus on parties
- Cons of visiting in September: Most of the clubs and festivals are over and slowly closing the season
